Software Technical Specialist with JCAPS focus

Purpose of Role:
In this role youa provide the technical aspects of the software delivery process When you start at Sun, your focus will be on Java CAPS technology and opportunities. In due term, you will also develop knowledge of the other software products from Sun, including Identity and Access Management, Desktop, and other middleware products.

Tasks include discussing software technology and solutions in relation to customer and prospect requirements. You will also deliver consultancy to existing Java CAPS customers at the customer site.

This role is only for those who can create the link between business and technology, with a very strong background in Java software development. You will be fronting the scope, architecture, development and deployment of Sun's software solutions, starting with the Sun JCAPS suite. You are fully capable of delivering formal and custom technical consultation, effectively delivering or supporting proof of concepts and works closely together with a team of account managers

The role requires both broad and deep knowledge relating to software middleware technologies including SOA, and the ability to design and develop solutions by mapping business problems to Sun’s technology solutions. It also requires demonstrated skills in conceptualizing solutions at distinct levels of abstraction and contributes to the overall solution design.

This role requires the successful candidate to work closely with a team of sales executives, assist in developing sales strategies for individual opportunities and then executing on those plans.

Very likely, you are currently working as a software architect or consultant, you have strong commercial ambitions and want to make the next step in your career towards a software system engineer.

Experience and Expertise:
You have been in the Java software engineering and software middleware industry for several years, and have seen methods and strategies come and go. However, you have seen the benefits of architectural driven approaches, including SOA. With strong software development and deployment expertise, you can easily tie web services to the needs customer's environments. Your excellent communication skills help you leverage the value of software to partners and clients alike.

Key Responsibilities:
To work closely with Customers to understand the value of Sun technology within the specific market sector and specific to the Requirements.

To build relationships with Customers technical decision makers, influencers, and eventually become a trusted advisor and delivery Professional services of high quality.

Develop and maintain technical competence in Sun products, competitive & complementary products, particularly pertaining to the target market sectors.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: ESSENTIAL OR DESIRABLE

• Technical Degree or equivalent in work experience
• 3-5 years experience in software industry
• 1-2 years experience in PreSales
• Java and J2EE architecture

At least two of the following technical skills:

• EAI/middleware
• Packaged applications (Siebel, SAP, PeopleSoft)
• Relational databases (Oracle, DB2…)
• Application development environments for Web, B2B, B2C
• Business Process Management and Web Services
• Composite Applications and Webdevelopment
• Portal, Web and Applicaton Servers

Good understanding of sales methodologies and sales cycle.
